Vance: The US and Iran have not reached agreements at the negotiations in Islamabad
The American side at the meeting with the Iranian delegation in Islamabad was unable to reach final agreements.
As reported by BAKU.WS, this was stated by US Vice President JD Vance at a press conference following the negotiations in the Pakistani capital.
"We had a number of substantive discussions with the Iranians. That is the good news. The bad news is that we did not reach agreements... We need a firm assurance that they will not seek to develop nuclear weapons and will not attempt to obtain the tools that would allow them to quickly acquire nuclear weapons. The question will be the following: do we see on their part a willingness not to develop nuclear weapons not just now or in two years, but in the long term? We have not seen that and still hope to see it," he said.
Vance stated that the American side had conveyed to the Iranian side its "latest peace proposals."
"We are leaving here, leaving behind a very simple proposal. It is a memorandum of understanding, which is our final and most favorable [for Tehran] offer," he said.
The US Vice President also noted that Iran decided not to accept the United States' terms.
"We made it very clear where our red lines are, what we are willing to accommodate them on and what we are not, and we did so as clearly as possible. And they chose not to accept our terms," Vance added.
