How the tallest person in the world lives
43-year-old farmer from Turkey, Sultan Kösen, is officially recognized as the tallest person on the planet - his height reaches 251 cm, and his foot length is about 36 cm.
As reported by BAKU.WS citing foreign media, as a child Kösen was no different from his peers and grew up as an ordinary child. However, at the age of ten, his life changed dramatically: doctors diagnosed him with acromegaly - a rare disease caused by a pituitary tumor. It was precisely because of this that his body began to grow rapidly. Over time, the boy became so tall that he could not comfortably attend school and was forced to abandon his education, switching to work in agriculture.
According to foreign sources, the uncontrolled growth was only stopped in the early 2010s thanks to a series of complex operations using radiosurgery. By that time, Kösen had already surpassed the previous record holder - Bao Xishun, whose height was 236 cm, and was entered into the Guinness Book of Records.
Despite his worldwide fame, his tall stature brings the man quite a few difficulties in everyday life. He is forced to walk with a cane, as he gets tired quickly when walking, cannot drive a car, and orders clothes made to his individual measurements. At the same time, Kösen himself notes with irony some unusual advantages - for example, the ability to easily change light bulbs in chandeliers.
Today, the Turkish giant has managed to adapt to life and turned his unique trait into an advantage. He is active on social media, posting humorous videos in which he jokes about himself and those around him. In addition, Kösen frequently travels and participates in television projects. In particular, in 2021 he visited Russia and appeared as a guest on the popular talk show Let Them Talk.
