Trump: War with Iran is close to ending
US President Donald Trump stated that the war between the US and Israel on one side and Iran on the other is "very close to being over."
As reported by BAKU.WS, in an interview with Fox News, Trump assessed the US strikes on Iran as well as the progress of peace negotiations.
Speaking about the war with Iran predominantly in the past tense, Trump, when asked whether the conflict had actually ended, responded: "I believe it is very close to being over. That is, I view the situation as nearly finished."
"You know, if I completely pulled out of there right now, it would take 20 years to rebuild that country. Our work is not yet done, we'll see what happens next. I think they genuinely want to reach an agreement," he noted.
The US President stated that if the US had not made the decision to strike, they could now be facing an Iran in possession of nuclear weapons.
"If they had nuclear weapons, you would have to call everyone for help. You wouldn't want that," he added.
Earlier, Trump also stated that the second round of negotiations with Iran could take place "within the next two days."
