Trump declared a strong friendship with Xi Jinping
US President Donald Trump stated that since 2016, a truly strong friendship has developed between him and Chinese President Xi Jinping, based on mutual respect and the interests of the two peoples.
He said this during a meeting with the Chinese leader at the White House.
"Since my first election in 2016, Chairman Xi and I have established a truly strong friendship based on mutual respect and the vital interests of our peoples," Trump said.
According to him, during this time they have met in various countries around the world — from Germany to Argentina, from Japan to South Korea, as well as in Beijing and Palm Beach in Florida.
"But remarkably, this is our first joint meeting here at the White House. And as Chairman Xi has already seen, a lot has changed since he was last here," the American leader noted.
Trump also stated that Xi Jinping became the first Chinese leader to make a second official state visit to the United States.
