The White House will not request Congress's permission to continue the operation in Iran
The Washington administration currently does not see the need to request authorization from the U.S. Congress for the continued conduct of the military operation against Iran. This was stated by White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt at a regular press briefing for journalists.
According to her, "there is no need for this official authorization from Congress," since, in the current administration's view, the United States is not currently in a state of war with Iran but is only conducting "large-scale military operations" against the Islamic republic. "There is no need for that right now," Leavitt repeated.
Under the law, in the United States only Congress has the authority to declare war.
