Netanyahu ordered to intensify strikes on Iran within 48 hours
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave the order to accelerate strikes on Iran during a tense meeting in a bunker beneath military headquarters in Tel Aviv. This was preceded by briefings from top military officials, including the heads of the Air Force and military intelligence, regarding which targets could be hit.
This is reported by the NYT, citing sources.
According to the information, Netanyahu ordered that maximum damage be inflicted on Iran's defense capabilities within the next 48 hours. This directive came after the Israeli government received a copy of a 15-point U.S. proposal for a ceasefire.
According to the Israeli leadership, the plan does not guarantee that Iran's nuclear and missile programs will be significantly curtailed. As the NYT explains, the Israeli government is alarmed that a hypothetical agreement could be reached before Israel has accomplished its intended military objectives.
Sources explained that Israel also fears the possible announcement of negotiations by U.S. President Donald Trump at any moment.
