The Pope responded to Trump's harsh statements
The head of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Leo XIV, stated that he is not afraid of the Donald Trump administration. In a conversation with journalists aboard the plane on his way to Algeria, the pontiff said that he would not like to argue with the US president but would continue to speak out against war in the Middle East.
This was reported by the BBC.
"I am not afraid of the Trump administration, and I am not afraid to proclaim the Gospel loudly — because that is exactly what I think I am here for. And that is exactly what the Church exists for," he noted.
The pontiff's words were his first response to a series of statements by Trump in which the US president expressed dissatisfaction with the Pope's activities. In his statements, the head of the White House called Leo XIV "weak."
The Pope also responded to the fact that the US president posted AI-generated images on his Truth Social account depicting Trump as Jesus Christ. "I do not think the messages of the Gospel should be misused in the way some people do," the pontiff stated.
