Presidents and First Ladies of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan toured the "Poi-Kalyan" complex in Bukhara
On August 24, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, First Lady Ziroat Mirziyoyeva and members of their families visited the Po-i-Kalyan complex in the city of Bukhara.
As reported by BAKU.WS, the name of this complex means "At the foot of the great." One of its main monuments - the Kalyan minaret - was built in 1127.
The Kalyan Mosque is the largest mosque in Bukhara. Built in the 16th century, the mosque can accommodate 12,000 people at the same time.
The Mir-i-Arab Madrasah located in the complex is a religious educational institution. It was built in the 16th century by Abdullah Yamani - Mir-i-Arab.
