Pakistan's Prime Minister Invited to Join the "Peace Council" for Gaza
Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has received an offer from US President Donald Trump to join the so-called "Peace Council," which will manage the Gaza Strip.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to TASS, this information was disseminated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan. The ministry's statement emphasizes that Islamabad will continue to participate in international efforts aimed at ensuring peace and security in Gaza, as well as achieving a long-term settlement of the Palestinian issue in accordance with UN resolutions.
This week, the White House press service announced that the "Peace Council," chaired by Donald Trump, will include his special representative Steven Witkoff, entrepreneur and son-in-law of the American leader Jared Kushner, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, owner of investment company Apollo Global Management Mark Rowan, World Bank head Ajay Banga, as well as Deputy National Security Advisor to the US President Robert Gabriel.
Recall that on October 9, 2025, Israel and the Palestinian movement Hamas, with the mediation of Egypt, Qatar, the USA, and Turkey, agreed to implement the first stage of the peace plan presented by the American president. The very next day, a ceasefire regime came into force in the Gaza Strip. According to the agreements, Israeli troops withdrew to the so-called "yellow line," retaining control of more than 50% of the enclave's territory.
The second phase of the agreement provides for the complete withdrawal of Israeli units from the Gaza Strip, the deployment of international stabilization forces, and the start of work of the enclave's governing bodies, including the "Peace Council."
