Netanyahu ordered the start of direct negotiations with Lebanon
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that he has ordered the start of direct negotiations with Lebanon on the disarmament of the Shiite movement Hezbollah and the resolution of the conflict "at the earliest possible time."
As reported by TASS, the head of government's statements were released by his office.
"In light of repeated appeals from Lebanon, I have ordered the start of direct negotiations with the Lebanese side at the earliest possible time. The negotiations will focus on the disarmament of Hezbollah and the settlement of relations between Israel and Lebanon," Netanyahu noted.
He added that "Israel appreciates today's statement by the Prime Minister of Lebanon on the demilitarization of Beirut."
