Nestle confirmed the presence of toxin in baby milk
Nestle has decided to recall one of the batches of Guigoz baby milk in connection with updated requirements in France for the permissible content of cereulide in infant formula. The reason was new analytical methods introduced based on the latest scientific data.
As reported by BAKU.WS citing Le Monde, the manufacturer had information about the possible presence of the toxin in the product for almost two weeks before initiating the recall in a number of countries.
The company explained that European and French regulators recently revised approaches to detecting cereulide. At the same time, Nestle emphasized that its internal quality control system relies on the strictest standards in the industry and assumes the complete absence of this substance in baby food. It is precisely this requirement, according to the company's statement, that became the basis for the additional recall of one specific batch.
This concerns Guigoz Optipro Relais 1 baby milk, intended for infants aged 0 to 6 months. Packages of 800 grams with an expiration date until December 2027 are planned to be withdrawn from circulation.
Nestle separately noted that the measures are targeted in nature and concern exclusively the specified batch. The remaining products of the Guigoz brand, according to the company's assurances, fully comply with safety requirements and can be consumed without health risk.
