Media: Zelensky managed to convince the US of Ukraine's ability to win the war

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that he managed to convince the US of Ukraine's ability to achieve victory in the war.

According to the outlet, after meeting with US President Donald Trump, Zelensky left Washington in high spirits. An additional success for the Ukrainian side was the US Senate's approval of a bill introducing new sanctions against countries purchasing Russian oil.

Senator Mike Rounds stated that the new restrictions are intended to increase pressure on Russia and push President Vladimir Putin toward negotiations.

Zelensky himself, as the outlet notes, emphasized that sanctions will help consolidate Ukraine's successes on the battlefield and bring peace negotiations closer, while once again calling on partners to expand deliveries of key weapons systems.

Politico also notes that within the American political establishment, the belief in Ukraine's ability to succeed in the war is growing. According to Senator John Boozman, the shift in sentiment is linked to recent successes of Ukrainian forces on the front lines.

"The relationship between Trump and Zelensky right now is substantially different from what it was a year ago, especially given that Ukraine is achieving significant successes in the war," said a former Trump administration official.

The outlet also drew attention to the change in relations between Zelensky and Trump compared to 2025, as well as the growing support for Ukraine from some representatives of the conservative MAGA movement.
