In China, they have figured out how to synchronize lunar and Earth time

To accurately measure time on the Moon and synchronize it with Earth time, Chinese scientists have developed special software.

This is reported by the South China Morning Post newspaper.

A cutting-edge technology has been created to provide more precise navigation on Earth's satellite in conditions of, as the newspaper writes, "the accelerating global lunar race".

The fact is that lunar time differs from Earth time due to the Moon's lower gravity. The difference is insignificant - only about 56 millionths of a second per day, but it accumulates and makes Earth time unsuitable for operations on the satellite. To solve this problem, Chinese astronomers from Nanjing developed their program.

Now instead of complex calculations, the newspaper writes, lunar and Earth time can be compared "in one step." Until now, missions to the satellite used our planet's time with appropriate adjustments for each flight separately. But as the number of launches to the Moon increases, such software is relevant and necessary.
