The Iranian side has promised Azerbaijan to conduct an investigation into the drone incident that occurred in the direction of Nakhchivan.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, this was stated to journalists by Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov after visiting the Alley of Honorary Burial on the occasion of the 103rd anniversary of the birth of national leader Heydar Aliyev.

According to the minister, immediately after the incident, the Azerbaijani side responded without delay and numerous contacts were made with Iran.

"The President of Iran called Mr. President [of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev]. I also had several phone conversations with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran [Abbas Araghchi]. The Iranian side claims that the missiles and drones were not launched from the Iranian side. Their position is that a provocation was carried out here by some third countries. Several contacts were also made through military channels on this matter," Jeyhun Bayramov clarified.

As a reminder, on March 5, Nakhchivan was subjected to a UAV attack launched from the territory of Iran. One of the drones hit the terminal building of Nakhchivan International Airport, and the second one fell near a school building in the village of Shakarabad in the Babek district. As a result of the attack on the airport, four civilians were injured. In connection with the incident, Iran's Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mujtaba Damirchilu was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Azerbaijan stated that it reserves the right to take retaliatory measures.
