Russia and Ukraine have agreed to a ceasefire from May 9 to 11, as well as to conduct a prisoner exchange under the "1,000 for 1,000" formula.

US President Donald Trump wrote about this on the social network Truth Social.

According to him, Moscow and Kyiv agreed to a three-day truce at his request.

Trump also noted that he welcomes the decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to temporarily cease hostilities.

"I hope this is the beginning of the end of a very long and fierce war," the head of the White House wrote.

In the opinion of the American leader, the sides are getting closer to resolving the conflict with each passing day.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree permitting the holding of a parade in Moscow on May 9 for humanitarian purposes. According to the document published on the head of state's website, for the duration of the event, the Red Square area has been temporarily excluded from the Ukrainian weapons deployment plan.

The decree entered into force from the moment of signing.
