Chinese scientists have invented superglue for broken bones
Chinese scientists have reported the creation of a unique "superglue" for bones that can mend fractures in minutes instead of the months required for traditional treatment, reports Oddity Central.
The development, called Bone-02, was created by specialists from Zhejiang University in Hangzhou. According to orthopedic surgeon Lin Xianfeng from Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, the preparation is administered in a single injection and "connects bone fragments in three minutes."
The idea for creating this solution emerged after studying how oysters attach themselves to surfaces underwater using a special bioadhesive. Scientists reproduced this natural mechanism for medical application.
Bone-02 has already been used in more than 150 clinical cases. In one instance, a patient with a wrist fracture avoided the installation of a metal plate: after the three-minute procedure and subsequent three-month observation, the bone completely healed without complications.
The main advantage of this innovation is that the glue naturally dissolves in the body, eliminating the need for repeat surgeries and reducing the risk of infections. The development has already been patented in China and abroad, but additional clinical trials will be required for its mass application.
