Acid rain may fall in Iran following US strikes on oil storage facilities
The Iranian Red Crescent has warned the population that explosions at oil storage facilities could lead to acid rain. The agency published the relevant information on its Telegram channel.
"Explosions at oil storage facilities release large quantities of toxic hydrocarbon compounds and sulfur and nitrogen oxides into the atmosphere and clouds, which is very dangerous in the event of rain," the statement said.
In the event of such rainfall, the agency asked citizens to stay indoors, and if caught outside during precipitation, to take shelter under concrete or metal roofs. In addition, water from open sources should not be used, and if drops land on the skin, they should not be rinsed with running water or rubbed, as friction only accelerates the penetration of acid compounds into the pores of the skin.
