A shocking incident occurred in the city of Quetta in northwestern Pakistan, where a father took the life of his 14-year-old daughter due to her activity on the popular social media platform TikTok.
During the investigation, it was revealed that Anwar ul-Haq, who initially reported that unknown assailants had attacked his daughter Hira, later confessed to committing the crime during interrogation.
According to The New York Times, the conflict arose due to the schoolgirl's regular social media posts. The girl's parents, being immigrants to the US, insisted on strict adherence to cultural and religious traditions, considering their daughter's content "unacceptable."
A tragic circumstance was that the family had recently returned to Pakistan after living in New York for 25 years, which may have exacerbated the cultural gap between generations.
