A citizen of Armenia has been arrested in Tbilisi on suspicion of damaging a bust of Heydar Aliyev

A citizen of Armenia suspected of damaging the bust of Azerbaijan's national leader Heydar Aliyev has been arrested in Tbilisi.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, this information was provided by public defender Teona Peraadze.

According to her, the detained individual is a citizen of Armenia over 40 years of age who came to Georgia as a tourist. He is currently exercising his right to remain silent.

The investigation is being conducted under Part 1 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Georgia. A preventive measure in the form of arrest has been imposed on the detainee. A preliminary court hearing is scheduled for November 12.

It should be noted that information about the damage to the bust initially spread on social media. The incident occurred on the morning of September 21.

Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Georgia, Faig Guliyev, previously told Georgian media that the suspect had been detained and that investigative and procedural activities are being continued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Security Service, and other relevant agencies of Georgia.
