The nutritionist explained why appetite awakens at night

Many of us, even while following a proper diet, face an irresistible urge to snack on something unhealthy or sweet, particularly in the evening. Well-known dietitian Alena Kapustina reveals the scientific explanation for this phenomenon.
According to the expert, evening appetite has a biological basis. During this time of day, there is a natural decrease in hormone levels responsible for metabolism. A sedentary lifestyle during the day can also trigger increased hunger due to insufficient energy expenditure.
"Emotional state plays a key role," emphasizes Kapustina. "Stress and fatigue often make us seek comfort in food, especially in high-calorie products."
The specialist notes several key factors affecting evening appetite:
- Sleep pattern disruption
- Skipping main meals
- Insufficiently balanced diet
To solve the problem, the expert recommends maintaining a regular eating schedule and increasing physical activity during the day.
"It's important to learn how to cope with stress without using food and ensure a full 7-8 hours of sleep," concludes Kapustina.
