Colombian mafia boss arrested

The leader of the Latin American branch of the Italian mafia group 'Ndrangheta, Giuseppe Palermo, known as Pepe, was detained in Colombia. This was announced by the country's president Gustavo Petro, as reported by RIA Novosti.
"The National Police of Colombia on July 11, 2025, detained Giuseppe Palermo, also known as Pepe, in Bogota as part of an international operation by the authorities of Great Britain, Italy, and Europol," Petro said.
According to him, Pepe is the coordinator of cocaine trafficking from Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru to Europe and is wanted in 196 countries for international drug trafficking.
