Psychologist named two main reasons why people find it difficult to find a partner

According to the latest data from the All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion (VTsIOM), only a quarter of Russians believe that it is easy to find a partner in the modern world, while 63 percent of respondents hold the opposite opinion. Candidate of Psychological Sciences Anastasia Lysakova explained that the main reason for this phenomenon lies in the mismatch of life goals and values.
- People focused on creating a family are one category, while others are absolutely not focused on this. And when they meet, there is a mismatch, frustration (disappointment leading to depression) is inevitable, - the expert explained.
According to the psychologist, over the past two decades, social values have undergone significant changes, which has led to a disruption of traditional ideas about family building. If previously creating a family and having children at the age of 20-25 was considered a generally accepted norm, now young people are more focused on self-development and personal growth. Emancipation and the desire for self-realization become priorities, which creates additional difficulties in building relationships.
Lysakova also noted that problems with romantic relationships are often associated with psychological barriers, in particular, with the fear of repeating negative experiences and experiencing emotional pain again. According to her, disappointment comes to people when they go through several short-term relationships, although initially they hoped for long-term and stable romantic connections.
- Sometimes even after one unsuccessful case, an attitude or stereotype forms that everyone is a deceiver, a liar, that no one can be trusted. And the same happens with men. People protect themselves from pain - this is a common phenomenon, - the psychologist emphasized in an interview with "Radio 1".
