Well-known Russian dietitian and endocrinologist Oksana Mikhaleva shared her expert opinion on how much bread can be consumed without harm to health.
According to the specialist's recommendations, the optimal daily intake of white bread is 100 grams, and rye bread - 150 grams. The expert emphasizes that bread should not be completely excluded from the diet, however, the consumption of white bread should be limited.
Mikhaleva specifically noted cases when bread consumption may be contraindicated. This primarily concerns people with gluten allergy or intolerance. Special attention should be paid to patients with gastrointestinal diseases - they should be careful with fresh bread, which can cause digestive disorders. In such cases, it is recommended to consume dried white bread in moderate amounts.
"According to regulatory documents, the normal bread consumption for healthy adults is 100g of wheat bread and 150g of rye bread daily. So, answering the question whether bread can be eaten daily - yes, it can be, if there are no contraindications. But it's better to avoid daily consumption of white bread," - the expert emphasized.
