It has become known who should not drink green tea

Green tea is known for its high content of the polyphenol EGCG - one of the most powerful antioxidants. However, as endocrinologist and Doctor of Medical Sciences Zukhra Pavlova warns, this beverage is not beneficial for everyone.
According to the specialist, EGCG reduces the activity of the aromatase enzyme, which is responsible for converting testosterone into estradiol. Despite the conventional division into "male" and "female" hormones, both types are important for the body. But with disruptions (for example, with age or due to bad habits), aromatase can become excessively active, disrupting the hormonal balance in men and increasing the risk of cardiovascular and oncological diseases.
Green tea helps normalize aromatase function and acts as an oncoprotector - it inhibits tumor development and the growth of new blood vessels.
Nevertheless, this same property can be undesirable, for example, when recovering from injuries or when trying to build muscle mass - tea can slow down these processes.
Pavlova also reminds: you shouldn't drink tea during meals. Like coffee, it can "extract" nutrients from food. Optimally - take a break of at least an hour between eating and drinking tea.
