Fully charging a smartphone significantly accelerates battery degradation and substantially reduces its service life. This alarming conclusion was voiced by Alexander Dzhakonia, the head of the research and testing center for subscriber equipment at MegaFon company. The specialist emphasized that intensive use of the device combined with frequent charging cycles creates a critical load on the battery, which inevitably leads to a decrease in its efficiency.

"Charging your smartphone to 100% is a mistake, as you will damage the battery with the very first use. When you buy a new gadget, its battery is usually around 40%. This is the optimal charge level for its efficient operation," Dzhakonia explained in an interview with RT.

The expert particularly noted that modern lithium-ion batteries, when reaching maximum charge, are subjected to increased voltage and heating, which catalyzes their wear processes. To maximize battery life, Dzhakonia strongly recommends maintaining the charge level in the range from 20% to 80%.

"Many people are accustomed to leaving their phone charging overnight, not realizing that by their own actions they are damaging the condition of the device. When the battery reaches full charge, the smartphone continues to maintain the charge level..." - the specialist warned about the negative consequences of overnight charging.

In conclusion, Dzhakonia emphasized that several short recharges throughout the day are much more preferable than one prolonged charge to 100%.
