A method to reduce the influence of predisposition to obesity has been found

People with a high hereditary predisposition to obesity can reduce the risk of weight gain if they eat earlier in the day. This was shown by a study published in the journal Obesity, which involved more than 1,100 overweight individuals. Participants underwent a course of dietary treatment and were observed for three years. Specialists analyzed both genetic data and eating patterns, particularly the timing of the main meal.
It was found that for people with a high genetic risk of obesity (according to the polygenic index PRS-BMI), each hour of delay in eating led to an increase in body mass index (BMI) by more than 2 kilograms per square meter. Meanwhile, those who ate earlier - closer to noon - better maintained their achieved weight after treatment. People with low genetic risk did not show such a dependency.
Scientists emphasize that specifically for carriers of the "obesity gene," mealtime can significantly affect the effectiveness of weight loss efforts. Late lunches and dinners, especially after 3-4 PM, can reduce the chances of long-term success in body weight control.
The study authors believe that adjusting meal times is an inexpensive and simple way to personalize the approach to preventing and treating obesity. It is especially important for people with an inherited tendency to gain weight.
