The head of the Azerbaijani diaspora, Shahin Shikhlinskiy, was arrested in absentia by the Basmanny Court of Moscow. This happened after he was put on the wanted list.

This is reported by e1.ru.

For some time, Shikhlinskiy was on the territory of the Azerbaijani embassy in Moscow, where access to Russian law enforcement is prohibited. After diplomatic negotiations, he came out, surrendered to authorities and was taken to Yekaterinburg, where he participated in investigative actions and was placed in a pre-trial detention center.

According to preliminary information, the head of the Ural diaspora is accused of involvement in the attempted murder of Fehruz Shirinov (Article 30, Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), as well as violence against a government official (Article 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

Shahin Shikhlinskiy's lawyer told e1.ru that his client insists on his innocence and intends to appeal the arrest decision. The Basmanny Court was unable to promptly respond to the call and written request from the editorial office.

The attempt on Fehruz Shirinov's life occurred in 2010, several years after the murder of Yunus Pashayev. But Fehruz was lucky - the killer's gun misfired. According to the investigation, another Azerbaijani, Elman Suleymanov (who has already died of natural causes), was the perpetrator. Before his death, he allegedly managed to name the person who ordered the hit.

Earlier in Yekaterinburg, Shahin Shikhlinskiy's son, Mutvali, was placed under arrest. He will remain in custody for two months. He was detained on July 15 on charges of using violence against a government official.

The reason was a situation that occurred on July 1 near "Baku Plaza." At that time, law enforcement officers conducted a special operation to detain the head of the diaspora, Shahin Shikhlinskiy, who was traveling in a car with his son. When they started breaking the windows of the Mercedes Gelandewagen, the car, driven by Mutvali, reversed and hit a special forces officer.
