The Kremlin prefers not to engage in verbal sparring with the United States on the topic of nuclear threats and calls for caution in such rhetoric.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Russian media, this was stated by the press secretary of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the statement by US President Donald Trump about his intention to send two nuclear submarines closer to the borders of the Russian Federation in response to statements by Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev.

"Russia is very attentive to the topic of nuclear non-proliferation, and we believe that everyone should be very careful with nuclear rhetoric," Peskov noted.

He also added that American submarines are already on constant combat duty, so this is not something unusual.

Regarding the discussion on social networks between Donald Trump and Dmitry Medvedev, the press secretary reminded that in matters of Russian foreign policy, the key reference point is the position of President Vladimir Putin.

"The main thing, of course, is the position of President Putin. In our country, foreign policy is formulated by the head of state - President Putin," emphasized the Kremlin representative, answering the question whether the leadership intends to somehow respond to Medvedev's statements.

According to Peskov, in any country, government representatives may have different views on what is happening.

"There are people who are very, very tough-minded both in the US and in Europe - it has always been this way," he added.
