The President of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) Gianni Infantino noted high demand for tickets to the final stage matches of the 2026 World Cup.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Footmercato, according to the official, at the moment the organization has received more than 150 million applications, which is a record in the history of world championships.

"Every day during the 15 days of pre-sale preparation, we registered an average of 10 million requests per day, with the United States, Germany, and Great Britain leading the way.

In the almost 100-year history of FIFA World Cups, we have sold a total of 44 million tickets. Thus, in two weeks we could theoretically have sold tickets for 300 years of World Cups. Just imagine. It's absolute madness," said Infantino.

The 2026 World Cup will be held in the USA, Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19 and will be the first to feature 48 national teams. The opening match will be between Mexico and South Africa at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.

Earlier it became known that FIFA, after criticism from fans, reduced the cost of some World Cup 2026 tickets. The minimum price is now $60.
