Why are there no mercury thermometers in pharmacies in Azerbaijan?

It is impossible to find mercury thermometers in most pharmacies across the country. According to pharmacists, only electronic devices are available for sale.
"Mercury thermometers have been absent for two months already. They are simply not in stock, so we recommend electronic alternatives to customers," explained pharmacy workers.
Doctor Adil Geybulla believes this may be related to instability in the pharmaceutical market.
"Mercury thermometers are indeed dangerous, but people are used to using them. The disappearance from sale of not only thermometers but also some medications has already become a common trend. The reason probably lies in the instability of the pharmaceutical market," he noted.
The Center for Analytical Expertise of the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan reported that the import of medicines and medical devices into the country is carried out by various companies.
