On TikTok they recommend medications: expert warns about the danger
Society 0

Recently, there has been an increase in cases where pharmacy workers start live streams on social platforms such as TikTok, giving viewers "advice" about medications and even recommending specific drugs.

According to BAKU.WS, although such activity may at first glance appear as "education," it actually poses serious threats and puts people's health at risk.

The most serious problem is that people offering medications during live streams are usually not doctors, but merely salespeople or technicians working in a pharmacy. Since these individuals do not have medical education and the right to diagnose, their recommendation of medications for any diseases is prohibited by law and can lead to serious consequences for the human body.

Doctor of Medical Sciences, infectious disease specialist Adil Geybulla in his comment for BAKU.WS stated that only a doctor can prescribe treatment and diagnosis to a patient:

"Because this right is granted specifically to them. Doctors are specialists trained in a specific field. They can formulate procedures when examining a patient and prescribing treatment. No other legal entity, pharmacist, or medical specialist has the right to prescribe treatment to patients, and this creates liability.

Unfortunately, in some pharmacy chains, there are pharmacies that, by entering into contact with various companies, change doctors' prescriptions and sell other medications instead. This is a serious problem and trouble.

I believe that citizens should be warned about this. It is necessary to conduct educational work, warn these pharmacy workers, and take certain measures. If such a practice aimed at corporate interest violates the law, the law should launch its mechanism. This is a very serious issue, and it cannot but concern us."
