"Azerbaijan is a country faithful to its historical, religious and cultural roots, and at the same time committed to the model of a secular state".

As reported by BAKU.WS, this was stated by the chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations Ramin Mamedov at the conference "Modern Information Space and Freedom of Religion".

He noted that today the religious situation in the republic is stable and healthy. The traditions of tolerance, formed in our country over centuries, form the basis of the model of state-religious relations, defined by the national leader Heydar Aliyev and improved under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

"Mosques, churches and synagogues located next to each other in Azerbaijan are examples of coexistence, mutual respect and our multicultural values. Tolerance is a national treasure of Azerbaijan, part of the cultural memory of our people. Media play an important role in preserving this valuable heritage, preventing the politicization of religion and its use by various circles for other purposes."

"Because the work of modern media does not end with just transmitting information. Now they also play an important role in the formation of civic responsibility, preservation of national and spiritual values. With regret, we must note that today there are ideological threats against Azerbaijan on religious grounds, spread in various ways, especially through social networks," emphasized the chairman of the committee.
