What subjects in university are truly important, and which ones are unnecessary? - Opinion of Baku residents

Baku TV conducted a survey among Baku residents, the results of which showed that many students do not support the inclusion of additional disciplines not related to their specialty in the curriculum. Some students consider such subjects an unnecessary burden, a waste of time, and a factor that reduces motivation.
"From the first year, we are mainly taught subjects not related to our specialty. They will not help in our future profession in any way. Instead, I would prefer disciplines that develop professional skills and language knowledge," noted one of the survey participants.
The Ministry of Science and Education stated that disciplines, including non-specialized ones - general, social-humanitarian, and elective, are included in the program for a reason.
"The modern labor market and global educational trends require higher education to provide more than just specialized knowledge. A university should develop critical thinking, communication skills, ethical responsibility, and the ability to work in a team. Therefore, the curriculum includes disciplines that contribute to the intellectual and social development of students," the ministry explained.
