Food additives prohibited for use were found in butter samples.

This information was disseminated by the Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan (FSAA).

It is reported that as part of control measures, samples of butter produced at the enterprise of Ali Telman oglu Jafarov were found to contain plant sterols (campesterol, stigmasterol, beta-sitosterol), as well as food additives (sorbic and benzoic acids), the use of which in this type of product is prohibited by regulatory documents.

In this regard, the FSAA decided to withdraw from circulation and recall from retail chains the batches of these products. Also, necessary measures have been taken in accordance with the legislation.

It is noted that the detection of vegetable oil in butter, when the packaging claims the use of natural pasteurized cream from cow's milk, is regarded as misleading consumers and violating their rights. In addition, excessive consumption of products containing sorbic (E200) and benzoic (E210) acids can cause allergic reactions in people. According to current regulatory documents, the use of these food additives in certain products is prohibited.
