Dangerous New Viruses: What Threatens the World in 2025?
In early 2025, scientists recorded the emergence of new viruses that could pose a threat to human health.
Human Metapneumovirus (hMPV) An outbreak of human metapneumovirus (hMPV), which causes acute respiratory infections, has been recorded in China. The virus is transmitted through airborne droplets and manifests with symptoms similar to acute respiratory viral infections: runny nose, cough, fever, and shortness of breath. Children, elderly people, and patients with weakened immune systems are at the greatest risk. There is currently no specific treatment or vaccine against hMPV.
Camp Hill Henipavirus In the United States, scientists have discovered a new virus, named Camp Hill, in shrews in Alabama. It belongs to the henipavirus family, some of which are already known to be dangerous to humans. No human cases have been recorded yet, but specialists continue to monitor the situation.
Rospotrebnadzor and other medical services are monitoring the development of these viruses. Specialists recommend that citizens take precautionary measures: avoid mass gatherings, maintain hygiene, and strengthen their immune system.
