Visa regime between Azerbaijan and Jordan is being abolished

The "Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on the Mutual Abolition of Visa Requirements for Holders of Ordinary Passports" has been adopted.

As reported by Oxu.Az, this issue was put forward for discussion at today's plenary session of the Milli Majlis.

The agreement was signed on July 8, 2026, in the city of Baku. The purpose of the document is to promote the development of interstate relations and simplify travel procedures for their citizens.

The document consists of 10 articles.

According to the agreement, citizens of each party's state holding valid ordinary passports are exempt from visa requirements for entry into the territory of the other party's state, exit therefrom, transit passage, and stay of no more than 90 days within each 180-day period. Foreign citizens intending to stay beyond this period, obtain a residence permit, engage in employment, studies, or other activities requiring prior authorization from the competent authorities of the other party's state shall apply for the appropriate visa before entering the territory of that state.

The parties shall exchange specimens of their valid ordinary passports through diplomatic channels no later than 30 days after the date of signing of this agreement.

The parties reserve the right to temporarily suspend the application of this agreement in whole or in part on grounds of national security, public order, or public health. Such a decision shall not affect the rights of citizens who have already entered the territory of the other state.

By mutual consent of the parties, any amendments may be made to the agreement. Such amendments shall be formalized in the form of separate protocols constituting an integral part of the agreement.

Any dispute that may arise in the interpretation or application of the provisions of the document shall be resolved through mutual consultations or negotiations.

The agreement is concluded for an indefinite period and shall enter into force 30 days after the receipt through diplomatic channels of the last written notification confirming the completion by the contracting parties of the respective domestic procedures necessary for the entry into force of this agreement.
