The UN spoke about Azerbaijan's steps towards achieving sustainable development goals
Azerbaijan drew attention to its contribution to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development during the general debate in the Second Committee of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, Deputy Permanent Representative of Azerbaijan to the UN Elvin Ashrafzade delivered the relevant speech.
He noted that Baku contributes to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals at both the national and global levels.
During the speech, Azerbaijan's presidency of COP29 and the hosting of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) were highlighted among the country's key initiatives in the field of sustainable development.
It was emphasized that Azerbaijan also contributes to the advancement of sustainable development through humanitarian aid, technical cooperation, capacity building, and educational initiatives.
The Deputy Permanent Representative also pointed out that the country's ongoing projects in the development of transport, energy, and digital infrastructure play an important role in strengthening interregional connectivity.
"These projects serve to promote inclusive economic growth, expand connectivity between regions, and develop sustainable partnerships," E. Ashrafzade stated.
The delegate also emphasized in his speech the importance of international cooperation and partnership in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
