Requirements for teachers' clothing approved in Azerbaijan

In Azerbaijan, dress code requirements for teachers at state general education institutions have been approved.

The corresponding decision was signed by Prime Minister Ali Asadov.

According to the decision, a teacher's clothing should not hinder their dynamic work or distract students' attention. At the same time, it should help students develop the right attitude toward style, appearance, and appropriate clothing choices for various situations.

"Teachers' clothing and its elements must comply with the principle of the secular nature of general education, be clean, neat, simple, modest in business style, and appropriate for the season. The use of clothing and its elements that do not correspond to the nature of pedagogical activity and the age characteristics of students, as well as those that go beyond the style established by these requirements, is not permitted.

Teachers must comply with these requirements while performing their work duties at school, as well as at official and ceremonial events where they represent the educational institution. At events related to the history, culture, and national-spiritual values of the Azerbaijani people, the use of national clothing or its elements is permitted by decision of the Pedagogical Council," the document states.

Regarding this decision, it should be particularly emphasized that it is not about a uniform, but about dress code rules. According to experts, school teachers' adherence to business style and dress code requirements has a positive impact from organizational, pedagogical, and management perspectives. This is because business style not only underscores that the teacher upholds certain professional standards but also helps maintain the necessary working atmosphere in the learning process.

Education experts have also noted during various discussions that if students wear school uniforms, then approaches to dress code requirements for teachers should be viewed as part of the overall corporate culture of the school. This will also have a positive impact on the public image of the educational institution.
