The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan responded to the statements of the French minister

Azerbaijan categorically rejects France's unfounded accusations against official Baku, aimed at concealing Paris's failed policy in overseas territories and attempts to continue colonial policy.
As Report informs, this was stated by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Aykhan Hajizade, commenting on the words of the French Minister for Overseas Territories, Manuel Valls, in an interview with BFMTV.
He noted that the French side is again resorting to distortions.
"The unfounded accusations against Azerbaijan from Minister Valls, who promotes his country's colonial policy, demonstrate France's inability to come to terms with the loss of influence in these regions. While he calls France a 'unique power,' acts of violence continue in its overseas territories and independence movements are suppressed," Hajizade noted.
According to him, Valls' statements confirm Paris's readiness to sacrifice the principles of freedom of speech and independence for its own strategic interests.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan called on France to stop the unfounded campaign to discredit the country.
