Artificial intelligence has very quickly gone from being a curiosity at conferences to a tool capable of changing the balance of power in the media landscape. On the second day of the IV Shusha Global Media Forum, this was discussed both from the podium and during panel discussions.

What the Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan said at the forum in Shusha

The second day of the IV Shusha Global Media Forum on the topic "The Mission of Media in Promoting Peace: Restoring Truth and Strengthening Trust" opened with a speech by the Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, Hikmet Hajiyev.

He reminded the audience that just recently artificial intelligence in the media sphere was at an initial stage, and speeches prepared with its help were perceived as exotic. Today, the technology has become part of everyday life.

"In just two years, artificial intelligence has already become part of our reality," the official emphasized.

According to Hajiyev, social media have simultaneously expanded opportunities for dialogue and accelerated the spread of disinformation and manipulation in society.

"Digital platforms have given a voice to billions of people, yet at times it becomes harder to separate truth from falsehood," he noted.

The Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan also addressed the protection of children and adolescents from harmful content, cyberbullying, and algorithms that create addiction, noting that the task of the state and society is not to restrict technologies but to combine digital innovations with responsibility.

"This is not about restricting technologies, but about protecting children and ensuring that digital innovations develop alongside digital responsibility. We are repeating the same mistakes with artificial intelligence. No one can stop the development of technology and science. However, there must be ethical standards and corresponding regulatory mechanisms," Hajiyev explained.
