Is Iran trying to expand its ideological influence in Azerbaijan?
Political commentator Ogtay Gasymov stated that Iran seeks to expand its ideological influence on the territory of Azerbaijan.
As reported by Baku TV, according to the expert, such activities should be subjected to thorough analysis from the perspective of national security and state sovereignty of the country.
He noted that over the years, alarming trends have been observed in some educational institutions, related to displays of disrespect toward national values, state symbols, and the flag.
In O. Gasymov's opinion, Iran's policy of creating proxy forces and influence groups in the region is capable of generating risks for Azerbaijan's security as well.
"There is a serious threat to the state independence and sovereignty of Azerbaijan. We, as a society, must openly face these realities and seek ways to resolve the problem," the analyst emphasized.
He believes that to prevent such risks, it is necessary to strengthen educational and awareness-raising efforts, and relevant agencies should coordinate their activities.
O. Gasymov also pointed to the importance of investigating anti-state and unlawful manifestations within the legal framework. According to the expert, great importance is also attached to training clergy in religious educational institutions who are loyal to the Azerbaijani state, respect national values, and are independent of external influence.
