Ilham Aliyev: It is necessary to create a permanently functioning mechanism of cooperation and monitoring of the implementation of adopted decisions on the Caspian Sea

Back in 2022, at the sixth Caspian Summit in Ashgabat, in the context of the Caspian Sea's shallowing, I proposed creating special expert groups to identify the causes of shallowing and determine measures to prevent further decline in sea levels. The years that have passed have confirmed the relevance of this initiative.

As reported by BAKU.WS, this was stated by President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, speaking at the Caspian Ecological Summit in Turkmenbashi.

"We need to move from a general discussion of the problem to creating a permanent cooperation mechanism and monitoring the implementation of adopted decisions," the head of state said, emphasizing the need to first identify the full range of factors affecting the decline in the Caspian Sea level and to have an objective scientific assessment of the further development of the situation.
