Ilham Aliyev: Azerbaijan is strengthening its position as one of the key transport hubs of the region

Azerbaijan is consistently strengthening its position as one of the key transport hubs in the region, ensuring reliable transit along the international North-South and East-West corridors.

As reported by BAKU.WS, this was stated by President Ilham Aliyev, speaking at the restricted session of the Council of CIS Heads of State.

"In the first half of 2026, the volume of transit shipments through Azerbaijan increased by 10%, reaching nearly 8 million tons of cargo. Our medium-term goal is to increase freight transportation along the East-West route and the North-South route through Azerbaijan to 15 million tons in each direction," the head of state emphasized.
