Throughout the last millennium, until the beginning of the last century, the territory known today as Greater Iran, or historical Persia, was under Turkish rule. This opinion was held by the famous American historian of Armenian origin, Richard Gable, based on historical facts.
As reported by Baku.ws, this is stated in a new issue of the analytical YouTube channel Caliber.
"Referring to the German medieval traveler Engelbert Kaempfer, he particularly noted: 'While the Delhi court, the court of Turkish India, spoke Persian, the official language of the Safavid court was Azerbaijani Turkish.' And even looking at the current situation, where ethnic Azerbaijanis make up more than 35% of Iran's population, including the current Supreme Leader of the country, Ali Khamenei, it can be said with certainty that ethnic Azerbaijanis, as well as the Azerbaijani language, play a huge role in the political and social life of modern Iran. Speaking of the Azerbaijani Turkish language, it should be noted that until the 10th century in Western Asia, two dominant languages were understood as Turkish: Ottoman and Azerbaijani," - the material states.
