Ilham Aliyev opened a tobacco products manufacturing enterprise in the Agdam Industrial Park

On July 18, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev participated in the opening of the tobacco products manufacturing enterprise LLC Tabaterra in the Aghdam Industrial Park.

As reported by BAKU.WS, first, the Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov informed the head of state about the Aghdam Industrial Park.

In accordance with the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev dated May 28, 2021, the Aghdam Industrial Park was established in the Aghdam region on an area of 190 hectares under the management of the Economic Zones Development Agency. The purpose of creating the park is to revive the territories liberated from occupation, develop the industrial potential of Karabakh, provide support to entrepreneurship, and increase employment in the manufacturing sector. The priority areas of the industrial park are the production of construction materials, fruit and vegetable preserves, establishment of meat and milk production and processing, feed, fertilizers, packaging of agricultural products, creation of service areas, and organization of cold storage facilities.

The state has created a favorable investment environment for the development of entrepreneurial activities in the Aghdam Industrial Park, making it the second among the industrial zones operating in our country in terms of the number of residents after the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park. 30 business entities with a total investment volume of more than 270 million manats have been granted resident status in the park, and 4 entrepreneurs have been granted non-resident status. Investors have already invested more than 121 million manats in the industrial park, creating over 650 permanent jobs. The majority of those employed are residents of Aghdam and adjacent regions. More than 70 percent of the territory of the Aghdam Industrial Park has already been transferred to entrepreneurs. With the opening of the tobacco products manufacturing enterprise LLC Tabaterra, the number of operating enterprises in the park has reached ten.

Currently, there are 9 industrial parks operating in the country: Sumgayit Chemical, Garadagh, Pirallahi, Nakhchivan, Hajigabul, Mingachevir, Balakhani, Aghdam, as well as the "Araz Valley Economic Zone" located in the Jabrayil region. In addition, 4 industrial quarters have been created - in Masalli, Neftchala, Sabirabad, and Sharur.

Then, the director of LLC Tabaterra, Elman Javanshir, provided information about the enterprise to the head of state.

It was reported that a tobacco products manufacturing enterprise, LLC Tabaterra, has been established in the Aghdam Industrial Park on an area of 5.5 hectares. 58 million manats have been invested in the project. In addition to its own products, LLC Tabaterra also produces products under international brands British American Tobacco, Japan Tobacco International, and Imperial Brands based on licenses. In total, LLC produces over 120 types of tobacco products under more than 20 brands. The enterprise, which uses advanced German, Italian, and British technologies, has 9 production lines. The manufactured products are exported to the United Arab Emirates, Georgia, Uzbekistan, and Iraq. Currently, LLC Tabaterra exports products of both local and foreign brands, such as British American Tobacco and Japan Tobacco International.

As a resident of the industrial park, the enterprise enjoys tax, customs, and other benefits. Currently, 400 people work here. Taking into account the relocation of up to 300 employees to the city of Aghdam, the company has invested in the acquisition of 208 apartments in the Ağdam Residence residential complex to meet their housing needs and has provided them for free use during their employment period.

Based on the results of last year, LLC Tabaterra became the leading exporter in the non-oil and private sectors, as well as the largest taxpayer in the non-oil sector.

LLC Tabaterra Leaf, established for the purpose of growing and processing tobacco, won the investment competition for the privatization of JSC "Azertutun" in 2021 and invested 15 million manats in modernizing infrastructure and improving the quality of local tobacco. Currently, LLC Tabaterra Leaf is engaged in growing and processing tobacco in the territories of Sheki, Gakh, Zagatala, and Balakan regions. The company operates tobacco reception and processing points, greenhouses, and a tobacco processing plant with an annual production capacity of 3 thousand tons. LLC Tabaterra Leaf plans to additionally invest in the construction of necessary infrastructure for growing and processing tobacco on an area of 500 hectares in the Gubadli region starting from 2027. The projects implemented by LLC Tabaterra in the territories liberated from occupation contribute to increasing economic activity, developing industry and agriculture, increasing the export potential of the region, and ensuring employment of the population. The total investment value of these projects is 79 million manats.
