Farid Shafiyev: The Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process is proceeding in four directions
The peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia continues along four main directions.
As reported by APA-Economics, this was stated by Farid Shafiyev, Chairman of the Board of the Center for Analysis of International Relations, speaking at the Regional Forum "Central Asia – Mongolia – Caucasus – Afghanistan" (CAMCA) being held in Baku.
He noted that after the Second Karabakh War, the geopolitical landscape of the region fundamentally changed, and the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia is currently ongoing.
"We have four directions. The first is a peace treaty, the second is delimitation, the third is transport links, and the fourth is contacts between civil societies," F. Shafiyev noted.
According to him, despite certain difficulties that have arisen recently, including those related to cultural heritage, the overall positive dynamic is being maintained.
F. Shafiyev also emphasized that establishing sustainable peace in the South Caucasus is impossible without Georgia.
In his opinion, it is important for the three countries of the region to form a common platform for political and economic cooperation.
Among other important factors influencing the development of the region, he also highlighted the Middle Corridor, energy, and integration processes. Shafiyev stated that energy cooperation is not limited to traditional oil and gas alone and that alternative energy is also of significant importance in this direction.
