At the eighth Coordination Meeting of the Climate Partners Development Group, organized by the British Embassy in Turkmenistan and the UN Office in Turkmenistan with the participation of the diplomatic corps at the UN building, Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Turkmenistan Hismet Gezalov held a briefing on the main outcomes of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP29) held in Baku in November 2024.

This was reported to APA by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Azerbaijan.

The briefing presented important results achieved at COP29 and highlighted Azerbaijan's activities in international cooperation and climate change. At the same time, extensive information was provided about Azerbaijan's main climate policy priorities, initiatives implemented by Azerbaijan at regional and global levels, and opportunities for further cooperation.

H.Gezalov emphasized that one of the important decisions made at COP29 was setting a new climate finance target of 1.3 trillion US dollars. In this context, the $100 billion financial commitments made in 2009 were tripled, resulting in developed countries increasing this figure to at least $300 billion by 2035. At the same time, all parties were called upon to increase annual financial investments in climate measures for developing countries through public and private resources to at least $1.3 trillion.
