UN Comments on USAID Closure

UN committed to constructive dialogue with Washington amid USAID closure.

As Report informs, this was stated by UN Secretary-General's Deputy Spokesman Farhan Haq during a briefing.

He noted that the UN is aware of the US government's decision to stop foreign aid funding.

"We comply with all legal directives in our member states. USAID has a long history of cooperation with various member state governments," F.Haq added.

Note that the official USAID website is currently not functioning. The administration of US President Donald Trump is considering revoking USAID's independent status and integrating it into the State Department structure. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has been appointed as Acting Director of the Agency.

It should be emphasized that USAID head Samantha Power is known for her pro-Armenian statements on X. Head of the Press Service Department of Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Aykhan Hajizade stated that official Baku had notified the US about the lack of legal grounds for USAID's activities, which made the termination of its operations in the country inevitable.
