Kyiv has requested an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to RIA Novosti, a source in the United Nations announced this.
According to the agency, the topic of the meeting is stated as "Maintaining peace and security in Ukraine".
"Ukraine has requested an emergency convening of the Security Council meeting in accordance with Articles 34 and 35 of the UN Charter," said a source in the organization.
The date of the requested meeting has not yet been specified.
Ukraine explained the need to convene the meeting due to strikes on the capital by the Russian Armed Forces.
