Trump: The world will be disappointed if a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine is not achieved

US President Donald Trump stated that if an agreement with Russia on a ceasefire in Ukraine is not reached, it will be a great disappointment for the entire world community. The American leader made this statement during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at the White House.
Trump characterized recent statements by Russian President Vladimir Putin about the possibility of a ceasefire in Ukraine as "promising." According to the American leader, Russia's consent to a truce could lead to a complete end to the conflict.
During the conversation with journalists, the US President also expressed readiness for a personal meeting with his Russian counterpart. "I would be happy to meet and talk with Putin," Trump emphasized, adding that Washington's interaction with Moscow on the Ukrainian issue "is going normally."
At the same time, the 47th President of America mentioned that the United States has leverage over Russia, but refused to specify its nature, citing the positive course of negotiations with the Russian side.
Trump also called the concerns of US NATO allies regarding a possible threat of attack from Russia unfounded. In addition, the American leader said that Washington is conducting discussions with Kyiv on key issues such as control over the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant and determining the territories that Ukraine will retain or lose as a result of the conflict settlement.
